Couple Questions about Strings
[info]kerendith wrote in [info]cellists
Hi, guys. I'm almost a brand-new cello player. I didn't practice for almost two months, and when I finally tried to give my cello some love, I discovered that all the pegs had slipped. I panicked, then figured out how to tighten everything and get the cello tuned again, except for a problem with my C string. I can't tighten it because the string's unwinding at the top. I can only imagine this means I need a new C string. So, my questions: Should I replace all the strings at once, or just the C? I'm fine with the sound of the G and D strings. I'd prefer something a little warmer or more mellow in the A, but I can live without it for now. And can I replace the strings myself, or should I take the cello in and have someone who knows what they're doing do it for me? Thank you!
